Annual Dinner
2010 Annual Dinner The Beaver County Conservation District will hold its annual awards dinner on Thursday, October 21, 2010, at the Penn Bistro, Penn Avenue, New Brighton, PA. Doors will open at 5:00 p.m. to allow time for participants to judge the posters for the annual poster contest. Dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m. If you are interested in attending, please send your check for $15.00 to the district office at 156 Cowpath Road, Aliquippa, PA , 15001, payable to BCCD, and indicate your choice of entrée - either sautéed chicken marsala with mushrooms or sautéed tenderloin tips with mushrooms in red wine sauce. Entertainment will be provided by popular magician and illusionist Billy Heh. The annual dinner is held to recognize the educators, farmers and others that have made a difference in their community. For more information, contact Jacqui Fryer at 724-378-1701. 2009 Annual Dinner The 2009 Beaver County Conservation District Annual Awards Banquet was held on October 14, 2009 at the Big Knob Grange in New Sewickley Township. Board Chairman, Jim Shaner, was Master of Ceremonies. All those who attended took part in the annual poster contest judging—this year’s theme was “When It Rains, It Drains.” The contest was open to all Beaver County students in grades four through six. A coloring contest was held for students in grades one through three. Over 1,100 entries were received. The 2009 Environmental Stewardship award was given to The Beaver County Department of Waste Management for their continued support of district programs and the successful pilot project in which compostable plates, cups, etc. were used for the Maple Syrup Festival last April. The Waste Management Department picked up and composted the material. Nationally prominent cartoonist and storyteller, Joe Wos, whose “Once Upon a Toon” combined storytelling with lightning fast live cartoon illustration, to provide the evening’s entertainment. Volunteer Appreciation Awards were previously given to several Maple Festival volunteers at the Thank You Picnic in June. The recipients were: Andy Zachodni, Marc Grivna, Tom Guernsey, Chris Cook, Rick Quigley, Lynnsey Winkle, Josh McCullough and Zack Young.
